Pick pockets in the area

⚠️ Beware of Pick Pockets in the Local Area ⚠️

We are reminding residents and visitors to remain vigilant and take simple steps to protect their belongings while out and about.

Pick pockets often target busy locations such as shopping areas, public transport, markets, events, and crowded streets. They can work alone or in groups and may use distraction techniques to steal wallets, mobile phones, purses, and other valuables.

Below are some tips to keep yourselves safe and do not give them the chance.

✅ Keep bags zipped up and carried in front of you.
✅ Avoid keeping wallets, phones, or valuables in back pockets.
✅ Be aware of anyone standing unusually close to you or accidently bumping you.
✅ Never leave bags or personal belongings unattended even if you are loading into a car.
✅ Consider using inside pockets for valuable items.
✅ Stay alert if approached by strangers asking for directions, signatures, or other assistance.

If you believe you have been the victim of theft, report it to the police as soon as possible. If you witness suspicious behaviour, please report it by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Together, we can help keep our community safe.
